Pongal Special Bus Services Tamil Nadu Government’s 19,484 Seamless Travel Solutions

Tamil Nadu gears up for seamless travel with 19,484 Pongal Special Bus Services scheduled from January 12 to 14. Despite potential bus strike threats, the government prioritizes efficient travel arrangements.

Special Bus Services:

Transport Minister SS Sivasankar shared that over 11,130 Pongal Special Bus Services buses will depart from Chennai, focusing on south and west-bound routes like Madurai, Coimbatore, and Erode.

Changes in Departure Points

To enhance efficiency, State Express Transport Corporation shifts south and west-bound buses from Koyambedu to Kilambakkam. This applies mainly to semi-sleeper and sleeper buses.

Different Departure Points for Mofussil Buses

Normal seater mofussil buses maintain departure from CMBT in Koyambedu, including those heading to Thiruvannamalai, Tindivanam, Villupuram, and more. ECR and Bengaluru buses continue from CMBT.

Specific Departure Points for Unique Routes

Tambaram hosts buses to Thanjavur and Kumbakonam, Poonamallee for routes like Hosur, Arcot, Vellore, Kancheepuram, and Cuddalore. Chidambaram-bound buses use KK Nagar, while Andhra Pradesh buses depart from Madhavaram.

Ticket Reservation Details

To further facilitate the Pongal travelers, 11 ticket reservation counters will be opened at strategic locations, including Kilambakkam, Tambaram MEPZ, and Koyambedu. In addition to physical counters, travelers can conveniently book their tickets online through the official TNSTC website or the dedicated TNSTC mobile app.
